Transformational Healthcare Leadership

FACILITATOR: Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed

Leadership within the healthcare sector plays a pivotal role in shaping the quality of care and ensuring patient safety. This workshop delves into the effects of two distinct leadership styles—transformative and compassionate—on healthcare quality and patient safety. Transformative leadership emphasizes on visionary thinking, innovation, and empowerment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability. On the other hand, compassionate leadership centers on empathy, understanding, and support for both patients and healthcare professionals, cultivating a patient-centered approach and a harmonious work environment.

Coproducing Quality and Patient Safety

FACILITATOR: Dr. Peter Lachman

Patient safety and healthcare quality are urgently needed in every health system. This became even more evident during the COVID pandemic. Universal Health Coverage must be based on high quality, person centred and safe care.

In this talk, I will discuss how everyone has a role in coproducing quality and safety. This includes patients and their families, clinicians and other healthcare workers, managers, policy makers and funders.

The presentation will address a challenge we all face i.e. how to develop a healthcare policy with an implementation strategy that is relevant, meaningful and effective for society at large, for healthcare providers and for the people receiving care. Coproducing the solutions is a way forward to achieve this goal
